Blockchain innovation among tech industry companies has dropped off in the last three months

Exploration and advancement in blockchain in the innovation and correspondences area has declined somewhat recently.

According to the most recent data, there were 75 blockchain-related patent applications filed in the industry during the three months ending in July, down from 265 during the same time period in 2021.

Similar to filings, the number of blockchain-related patent grants decreased from 200 in the three months ending in July 2021 to 12 in the same period in 2022.

In the most recent quarter, ICT Market in Communications was the leading blockchain innovator in the technology and communications industry. In the three months that ended in July, the company, which has its headquarters in the United States, submitted 26 patents that were related to blockchain. That was up from 23 over a similar period in 2021.

Blockchain research and development at International Business Machines Corp. has recently grown. When compared to the same period in 2021, it saw growth of 11.5% in related patent applications in the three months ending in July. This was the highest percentage growth among all companies in the technology and communications sector that were tracked and had more than 10 quarterly patents.
